The five pillars / 04
Co-Living
Sharing a home means sharing more than rent. Explore how to choose a space, set expectations and build everyday routines with room for comfort, privacy and other people.

The opening feature
Before you choose a co-living home in Singapore.
A shared address can be practical and sociable, but the right fit is built from ordinary details: a quiet room, an honest kitchen, clear terms and a commute you can live with.
Read the featureOur perspective
A shared home. A personal life.
Think beyond the bedroom
The room may be yours, but much of daily life happens in shared areas. Check whether the kitchen, laundry space and common seating suit the way you actually live. Notice access, storage and what happens when everyone is home.
A viewing is a chance to ask practical questions, not just admire an interior. Our checklist brings everyday details into the conversation before you commit.
Make shared expectations explicit
People can agree on a place and disagree on its routines. Discuss guests, calls, cleaning, quiet hours and how concerns are raised. Clear expectations are more useful than assuming everyone has the same idea of considerate behaviour.
Look for an arrangement that leaves you room to be yourself. Shared living is not a guarantee of community, and not every shared home will be right for every person.
Understand the arrangement
Ask who you are dealing with, what the written agreement includes and which costs sit outside the headline price. Check rules for the actual property type rather than treating “co-living” as a legal category.
We publish decision guides, not rental listings or legal advice. Consult current official information and obtain qualified advice when needed before entering an agreement.
